Slippery Canoe Steps

Timber decking has traditionally been used as steps in order to give safe access to canoeists to the river.

But timber can become very slippery especially if it has been submerged and unless it is regularly maintained can present a real hazard. The Rivers Agency was particularly concerned with a set of steps on the Lagan and made the decision to use GRPGrid as an alternative to the timber decking.

Durable and robust GRPGrid provided steps that had an excellent antislip surface which required no maintenance and most of all would not need to be replaced in 5 or 6 years time.
